AFOM is an independent, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to supporting African-led innovation and public health research in Africa. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of African researchers and institutions to conduct high-quality, evidence-based research and to use this research to inform and improve the health of African communities.
We work in partnership with African researchers, health professionals, and institutions to develop innovative, evidence-based solutions to pressing public health challenges. We are committed to developing research capacity, creating knowledge, and advocating for evidence-based policies.

Supporting Research Organizations
We provide grant support to health research organizations in Africa. Our services include support from the conception of a project, grant application, award management, and close out. We are dedicated to helping health research organizations secure the resources they need to promote healthy communities and advance health research and innovation in Africa.
OUR PARTNERS
Our research support provides the necessary resources to Mutala Trust and its affiliated laboratory IDRL to achieve its mission of addressing healthcare needs and disparities in Zimbabwe through public health research, implementation science, and basic science research. We enable Mutala to invest in innovative research and initiatives that will help improve the health outcomes in African countries such as Zimbabwe. We understand the importance of investing in public health research and infrastructure and are committed to providing the necessary resources to make it possible.
INFECTIOUS DISEASE RESEARCH LABORATORY
IDRL provides comprehensive laboratory services to support the field research activities of Mutala Trust. The lab is also equipped to conduct basic discovery research in the field of infectious diseases, enabling Mutala Trust to stay on the cutting edge of the latest developments in the field. The Mutala/IDRL team of experienced researchers and technicians are dedicated to providing accurate and reliable results to help advance public health.
MUTALA TRUST
Mutala Trust is an African-led research organization specializing in public health and implementation science research. Mutala strives to use evidence-based research to inform decision-making and develop policy initiatives to improve the health of African communities. Mutala has a strong commitment to mentoring and capacity building, collaborates with scientists and institutions globally and aims to create a network of African professionals that can use their knowledge and skills to create positive change in their communities.
